Provincial Swine Breeding Centre |
Sichuan Provincial Breeding Center,
is one
of the biggest seine breeding bases in South-West
China. More than 156 Landrace, Yorkshire and Duroc
purebred pigs were imported form Canada in 1998,
later more than 42 Duroc breeding pigs were
imported form Taiwan in 2002. Now the center has
1500 sows, with annual production capacity of
35000 breeding pigs and commercial pigs. And most
of all, The center is always producing first-rate
stock pigs by various means, such as establishing
open breeding nucleus, introducing purebred pigs
from abroad, managing data by computer technology,
applying PCR gene diagnosis instruments and
electrophoresis gel imaging system to eliminate
latent fluothane gene, estimating composite index
by using MTEBV software based on BLUP theory. The
Landrace Yorkshire and Duroc of the center have
won the first place in breeding characteristics by
Sichuan Provincial Stock Pig Test Station.
Meanwhile the center was awarded "Excellent
Stock Pig Farm" by bureau of animal husbandry
and foods of Sichuan Province. The center
possesses Sichuan provincial Stock Pig Farm,
Sichuan Provincial Swine Al Center and Wenjiang
Huiyuan Ecology Co., LTD. etc.
In order to sustain development, the
center of now developing towards setting up a
large-scope pig industry, including of
introducing, cultivating, breeding purebred pigs
from abroad, Swine technology extension,
production of high quality commercial hog, designs
for modern pig farm, processing of facilities for
pig production and plant engineering
projects.
